The Parable of the Flower

Just as seed, nutrient rich soil, water and sun help a flower grow so can these symbols make your marriage grow and flourish. I use these metaphors to help you create a better relationships with your spouse and love ones.

Scriptures

Luke 8:5-8

“A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside, and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

And some fell upon a rock, and as soon as it had sprung up, it withered away because it lacked moisture.

And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it.

And other fell on good ground, and sprang up and bore fruit a hundredfold.” And when He had said these things, He cried, “He that hath ears to hear, let him hear!”

John 4:6-15

Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with His journey, sat thus by the well; and it was about the sixth hour.

There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said unto her, “Give Me to drink.”

(For His disciples had gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

Then said the woman of Samaria unto Him, “How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest a drink of me, who am a woman of Samaria?” For the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, “If thou knewest the gift of God and who it is that saith to thee, ‘Give Me to drink,’ thou wouldest have asked of Him, and He would have given thee living water.”

11 The woman said unto Him, “Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. From whence then hast thou that living water?

12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank thereof himself, and his children and his cattle?”

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, “Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again,

14 but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

15 The woman said unto Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.”

“Determine that there will never be anything that will come between you that will disrupt your marriage. Make it work!! Resolve to make it work. There is far too much of divorce, wherein hearts are broken and sometimes lives are destroyed. Be fiercely loyal one to another”
— President Gordon B Hinckley
”we loved each other: there was no doubt about that, but we also had to get used to each other. Early on I realized it would be better if we worked harder to get used to each other than constantly try to change each other”
— Sister Hinckley

“Do you wish to partake of this living water [spoken of in John 4:14] and experience that divine well springing up within you to everlasting life?
“Then be not afraid. Believe with all your hearts. Develop an unshakable faith in the Son of God. Let your hearts reach out in earnest prayer. Fill your minds with knowledge of Him. Forsake your weaknesses. Walk in holiness and harmony with the commandments.
“Drink deeply of the living waters of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
— Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin
